An infrared barrier is made up of two parts: the transmitter and the receiver. An infrared ray is emitted between the transmitter and the receiver and makes a beam. When this beam is cut, the cell sends a signal to a system (automatic gate motor, alarm system, chimes, automatic lighting, etc.). Rain, fog or bad weather hinder the propagation of the infrared rays and can reduce the maximum distance between transmitter and receiver by as much as half. For alarm use, it is recommended to double the beams which means doubling the number of infrared cells.
The infrared barrier I40 and I40N are each made up of a completely waterproof transmitter and receiver. They can be wall mounted or fixed onto posts.
Maximum distance between transmitter and receiver: 10m (recommended distance: from 7 to 10m). Output on NC 0,5A/250Vdc dry contact.
