The aim of a fire alarm is to quickly detect an outbreak and warn you that you can call the fire service as soon as possible. A standard fire alarm kit contains: 1 special fire control panel with automatic charger, a 24Vdc battery or 2 batteries of 12Vdc in series, one or more smoke detectors, one or more break glass units, one or more fire sirens and one telephone transmitter, if possible. This type of alarm is much easier to fit than a burglar alarm because a smoke detector for example only needs two connecting wires whereas an installation with radar needs 4 to 6 wires depending on the wiring method used. There are several families of fire detectors: Temperature detectors Optical smoke detectors Gas leak detectors Carbon monoxide detectors And for each family of detectors there is a maximum of 3 types: Self contained fire detectors (using a 220Vac supply or a battery) Detectors that can be connected up to a burglar alarm control panel (12Vdc supply with relay output) Detectors that can be connected up to a fire control panel (24Vdc supply without relay) The state of the art technology used in these fire control panels provides a high degree of mechanical and electrical reliability (IP54 protection), and satisfies the most diverse requirements. The AEF3, AEF5, AEF8 and AEF16 are designed to run fire detectors without relays, alarm transmission being by impedance variation. However, fire detectors with relay outputs can be connected to the control panels. LEDs indicate the state of each zone: activated or not, by default or by alarm. There is a built-in battery charger in each control panel to ensure that the back-up batteries are fully recharged in case of mains fault.
